2. Summer reading…..

Bookish Stuff / Monday, July 9th, 2012

Well summer is here and I’m sure you’re all reading a little bit of your humongous TBR pile.  If you’ve not started yet and are still looking for something different. Check out Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and her daughter Samantha Van Leer.  It’s a YA fantasy novel about a teenage girl who loves stories with happy endings.

Check out A Game of Thrones!!  I feel a little behind on this one because it seems as if everybody is so far ahead on this one.  It’s an epic fantasy series – seven books.  This is the first in the series and it’s a whopping 807 pages.  I’m definitely going to crack this big nut to see what everybody is raving about next month.  If you’ve read any of this series please write below and tell me what you think about it.  Does it bring you memories of Lord of the Rings?

Here are just some other books that you may want to read this summer, have already read, or are not interested at all in reading….

Ok I could go on and on…. There are so many good books at the moment that I’m not sure I’ll have enough time this summer to read everything I want to.  I’m going to give it a good try.  Tell me below what you’re reading this summer.  Happy reading…..

  1. I’m going to try and read Murakami’s 1Q84, Kate Summerscales’ Mrs Robinson’s Disgrace, Suzanne Joinson’s A Lady Cyclist’s Guide to Kashgar, Charlotte Rogan’s The Lifeboat, perhaps Wolf Hall or maybe some other books altogether, it is the summer after all 🙂

  2. 1Q84 is on my summer list too. I have the big hard back version with Books 1 & 2 together. I don’t want to commit myself more than that. Summer is short fo me. It’s the month of August. I’d like to read A Game of Thrones too but not sure I’ll get through all of that 804 pages. Anyway we’ll see.

  3. I may check out Game of Thones you are the second person who has mentioned it. I have not read any Jodi Picoult yet. I own one of her books just haven’t read it. You are not helping my book addiction Didi!

    1. I’ve not read any Jodi Picoult either but everyone speaks highly of her writing. I think I have one of her books on my shelf too but can’t tell you which one. Concerning A Game of Thrones I’m feeling a little late with that one. Everyone seems to have read at least 4 books from the series or is reading it at the moment. I ordered it and will definitely get to it pronto!

  4. I think, I’ll first finish “Bury my heart at wounded knee”. It is not a light read, but since I watched Westerns when I was young, I knew then and this book confirms it : we owe all american indians and the very minimum is to read this account of the history.
A slightly lighter read (at least in the style) on this exact same subject is “little big man”.
If your stomach can’t take it, the “little big man” movie is a good altenative since it is very fair to the book.
